Note: Today is 1st of April but this is not a joke/prank.
Let’s think your webpage looks like the 1st image. As you can see, there are three ads and that means three JS codes. While the browser render the page from top to the bottom, it meet the 1st ad code and the browser pause rendering the page and wait till this JS code downloaded. This usually takes some milliseconds or few seconds. When it is downloaded, the browser continues rendering the page and now, it meet the 2nd ad code and do the above mentioned process, again. It does the same for the 3rd ad code. Eventually, this process slowdown loading your page content and your visitors will have to wait few seconds till ads are loaded, to see the full-page content. It will look like the following image.
So, we’ve added a new way to display ads instead of the normal way. Want to know how it works? We’ll explain it too.
Instead of inserting JS codes to every place you need to show ads, we are giving you a simple <div …></div> code (<div name=”geegain_ad” id=”geegain-place-[place_id]“></div>). And also, only one JS code that needs to be placed at the bottom of the page. You can paste it just before the end of the body tag (</body>). And now, browser will render all of your page content first and then, ads you placed. It will be like the following image.
Please remember that this may not reduce the page load time but This will speed-up the page load time a bit so it’ll be a great method as your visitors no longer need to wait to see the full page content till ads are loaded.
This new ad code will roll-out to Geegain Advertising Program in next few days and you will be able to test them then and see the impact yourself.
